I am thinking about how hard this company will fall, I am thinking about how many requests that Sony ignored it. Samsung has just launched their Note 8 and Huawei is joking around because Samsung was too late to launch a dual lens camera! But what about Sony? It is almost 2018 and they making bezzels bigger ( I will believe u if u tell me that Sony managers was reading our requests on a overturned display because they re totally making the opposite!! ) and of course no need to mention they re still using one camera lens and they having some Illegal relationships with the designer of their phones and this is why they would never change the design! But sony has to improvise their design (same since XZ). I mean i love front firing speakers, but sony can move the camera sensor in the middle or slightly lower from the current (top most corner) position. It is the only way to reduce the bezels, i guess. That’s why i love Xperia phones which looks professional and Classy. But Note 8 surely left me in a state of dilemma. It looks premium and loaded with lot of features (disgusted by Touchwiz though). Common sony, wake-up. Bring-on a Dual camera phone with OIS, OLED display (With X-reality processing it can kick any AMOLED display out of the park). Reduced bezel (i want stereo speakers). The XZP proved that the bezels make sense.

As others said, the XZP is not a little girls little phone for texting. It’s a beast with a shitload of power, unmatched functions a cooling system to let us actualy make good use of it. (the processor is clocked higher than in anything else at the time of shipping because of it) And it comes with a design that stands out looks cool, and unique. Oh and it also houeses stereo speakers. Not the laudest, but the best in quality.
Probably the camera will be the star of the show with some new features and improwments, but if you don’t need that, then the XZP is the way to go. It’s just awesome, i am actualy liking it better now than it after i got it. OFC the wow factor is huge for the screen and the slow mo, but the predictive capture, battery life, which is still improwing after 3 months, the speed it has are making it better than anything else i can imagine. Huge but very very practical phone. If you are about to watch netflix and amazon prime on the go then it’s the best for it.
But the new one will have HDR as well. But on Full HD on a smaller screen, It’s up to you to decide. They moved the volume rockers. I quite liked them being where my thumb rested below the power button. They didn’t get reviewed well though, so maybe Sony listened to the reviewers. Still got the camera button though – awesome! Looks like a metal back which I like.
I hope the speakers are a bit louder than this generations. The Bezels are a bit meh, but they do provide somewhere to hold the phone while watching something, but you’ll only watch something if the speakers are load enough to hear.
Which they’re not on the x Compact, a least. While this probably end up being best and most perfected looking Xperia device (as it should be), it didn’t need to take this many iterations of OmniBalance to get to this point. Which is why it feels so stale. And I totally agree with you. IMO, Sony makes the classiest most professional-looking Android phones on the market, period.
Which is what has always drawn me to the Sony brand. But I’d love to see more cutting edge design features similar to what Samsung offers while retaining Sony’s classy software aesthetic (which is slowly being overrun by Google’s influence – and yes, Touchwiz is disgusting. I do have high hopes for Sony next year.
I truly believe we will get smaller bezels in 2018. I don’t understand why people are complaining about the bezels, you knew that since forever and there’s no sign Sony would move away from it any time soon. Sony uses possibly the largest sensor in their phone 1/2.3 (vs 1/3.6 in some others, which is significantly smaller). Also larger sensor requires bigger space for the lens (Nokia phones used to have much bigger sensors in the Pure Views, and look at those camera bump), and the fact that Sony managed to squeeze everything in given the thickness is quite impressing. The only complaint I have is Sony could have stuff in a bigger battery to flatten the bump (presumably for the additional memory chip layer for the camera sensor, for 960fps slo-mo) by increasing the thickness by a little bit. I like the way they stick with their own unique design (and good enough build quality), so other people knows clearly I am using an Xperia.
It really does look different compared to others. I have always wondered why the one must be better than the other. I agree about the bezels (all 4 of them should be reduced, not by much though), but why does Samsung is the benchmark and if the rest of the makers (Sony in this case) are feeling independent enough not to follow the trend they’re being labeled as “last-year”, “old design” etc.
We should be happy for the diversity we have instead of complaining that “once again Sony screwed up with the old Omnibalance design”. It is 2017 and such opinions are circulating the web for almost 10 years now. Haven’t people learnt that the design comes to personal preference? Phones should not be compared to their competitors, instead they should be matched against their previous iterations. You are really dense back camera size has nothing to do with front camera module. Why are you keep talking about the back sensor? Yh in photoshop picture it looks massive, but in real life they are not big at all!
S8/+ has two camera module for the front! And still has small bezel look at the front module, its bigger than the bezel of the phone yet samsung has manged to trim the bezel smaller comparing the front cam of s8 and xzp are not that different in size yet other compannies have smaller bezel than their camera module but sony cant do it lol get real. Yeah, Sony’s speakers have always been a joke. Reviewers never talk about how quiet they are compared to the rest of the industry. I had to root my Sony and apply a sound enhancing mod, which nearly doubled the volume, just to get close to the stock sound of my wife’s iPhone. As for the volume rocker, I don’t know what it’s like on the full size Sony phones, but I’ll be so glad if they moved it above the power button for the compact line.
It was always unnatural and not very ergonomic to adjust the volume buttons when they are that low on the phone. Waterproof – This is how their most advertised features really are.
I think all the people that was impacted with this issue across the world should do this and not only the ones in the us. It seems the only way to make them acknowledge their failures is to go to court.

I wonder if we should do the same for abnormal distortion issue, aren’t we here impacted by biased advertising about superior camera? At least I hope they finally stop to advertise their future products as having great cameras. We all know how it really is by experience. It was ok in 2012. They should hire sony ericsson designers back (after they released them). Not only these, Sorry already removed Album widget and: 1. Small apps 2. Many good looking and useful widgets (including Album widget, previous Weather widget, camera widget etc.) 4. Lock screen widgets 5. Most of dedicted apps for the camera (Burst, Info etc.) and even “+” button in camera app yahoo (even if you will download a Sony camera dedicated app from Google Play like Horror and install it it will not be visible in the systm or camera app, they need to prevent you from using it as they know better what you want to use, not you!) 6.

Why do you need this phone at all? You can buy any other that has these features. Screen mirroring 15. DualShock 3 support 17. Stock Android live wallpapers. Only if you look at the pictures. Having owned an X10, S, Z1, Z5 and my friends a Z, Z2, Z3 & Z3+ the actual feel of the phone and look in person is very different.
You can feel the way the rounding has changed, the way the case has evolved (look at the corners) and no, apart from a change at the 4th Iphone which had antenna issues phones from the first to the 3rd were very similar and from 4 onwards have been very similar. But that is the subjective eye isnt it an apple fan boy will see every difference and anyone who isnt wont. Omnibalance is a Sony design language in the same way as car companies have their family look.
Actually iphone1-3 are similar and 4 onwards are similar samsungs look very similar up to the latest and as for LG they are just bland boring phones after another. You really can’t make that many changes to a rectangle which uses shared components across brands underneath.

But the Sony look is a family look, it evolves subtly but very much differently when you actually hold them and they look and feel quality rather than a plastic slippy brick. Some of your claimsis not true, at least for XA1 Ultra, the latest Sony handset to market now. Replaced with MultiWindow. Blame Google, I guess.
Never used any of your mentioned one except Weather. But it was replaced by the new Weather app, which is elegant. I do miss the Binary Clock widget though.
It’s there, at least for Music, which is the only one I use. Camera app can still be used at least for Timeshift and Background Deforcus 6.
Not sure what you are talking but percentage for battery is still there. Xperia Keyboard is just a customized version of Swift. Still the Xpeira one. Still the Xpeira one.

Not present on XA1 Utlra. But for device that previously had DS3, now it becomes DS4. That’s the case for my Xperia Z4 Tablet. Never missed them though.
I do miss one feature they removed but not listed in yours is the DLNA Media Server. Quite an easy way to share view photos on DLNA devices like my Sony TV and PS Vita.
Click to expand.I'm not aware of any launcher that allows the degree of customization that would get it to look like HTC Sense. I use ADW launcher, and it supports custom icons and custom text for your icons. So you can definitely get your icons to look exactly like that screenshot if you had the icon images handy. As for the big flip clock widget, there are a few widgets on the market that look like the Sense flip clock.
So that should be doable; just don't expect the graphics to be exactly the same. The hard part would be the bottom dock and the round scrollbar indicator.
I don't think a launcher can emulate that functionality. That screenshot looks like it was taken from Myn's Warm Sense-based custom ROM. It's made for HTC phones and uses HTC Sense.
